See, I Have Engraved You on the Palms of My Hands; Your Walls Are Ever Before Me: Cătălin Bădărău

   The exhibition questions a whole series of meanings inside the relationship between Sacral and Violence, the "mythic violence" to use Walter Benjamin's terminology.
The selected works are assembled inside the space of the old Brancovenian kitchen in order to generate a certain scenography of symbiosis between the space and the artworks.
   There is a particular non-typical, unconventional staging of this exhibition, there are no pedestals or "window views". These five installations, two of the kinetic mechanisms, are centered and molded following a recurrent theme of Cătălin Bădărău: The Hand - not seen as an anatomical feature, but specific as a main element of the human body. In this case, the hand becomes a concept with many meanings and stages: the hand that works (seen as an instrument), the blessing hand or one of the punishments, all our unique hands - together, begging or the hands of riots, hands that caress or kill.
