GENERAL CONCEPT
In 2014, the Kontakt Association initiated Dublă Expunere, an editorial venture that served as a creative platform for ten writers and ten contemporary artists from Romania. This collaboration resulted in a unique hybrid book, where the visual elements complemented the short stories crafted by the writers. These narratives were inspired by the artworks contributed by the artists.
Over time, the project evolved and transformed into a series of public gatherings, bringing together the writers and visual artists who contributed to this publication. These gatherings revolved around the fascinating interplay of visual and written language, exploring the narratives that emerge at the intersections of these two forms of expression.
The inaugural volume, Dublă Expunere, was unveiled at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest. The launch event was graced by the presence of the participating writers and artists, along with an engaged public audience, underscoring the project's commitment to fostering these creative intersections.

THE FIRST TWO STAGES
10 ARTISTS AND 10 WRITERSThe first stage of the project aims to orchestrate a series of 10 interdisciplinary collaborative residencies. These residencies will serve as a platform for the creation of literary texts that will be developed in conjunction with visual artworks. In practical terms, the project entails 10 contemporary writers selecting a piece from the portfolios of 10 contemporary Romanian visual artists.
During the residencies, participants will immerse themselves in the chosen artwork, engage in discussions and dialogue with the respective visual artist, craft unique literary pieces, and curate public events. These events will encompass both physical and online exhibitions or installations, complemented by public engagement programs.
The initial phase concludes with the release of a hybrid book, which serves as an art and literature catalog. This milestone is further celebrated through a collective exhibition featuring all 10 visual artists, a public discussion platform, and a 10-week-long podcast series with the artists and writters involved.

Indeed, at first sight it's all there, mostly in the form of small drawings and mixed media panels, or in room installations: the bodies, the boobs, the (s)dicks, the sex, the fashion, the kitsch, the bunnies, the sunglasses, the beauty nails, the Teletubbies, good old Mickey Mouse, the gender trouble, the shrill colors of advertisement, the hype of the new media, even the specters of religion roaming among the earthly sinners at the supermarket.

THE 3RD STAGE
10 MURALISTS IN 10 CITIESThis phase of the project marks a significant development in our collaborative efforts. Building upon the initial creative activities, the project is set to expand its impact significantly. Their mission is to seamlessly integrate these stories into the public space, effectively transforming the urban landscape. Each of the ten muralists will be tasked with bringing one of these stories to life through the creation of captivating murals. These murals will serve as a visual and literary tapestry that engages and resonates with the broader public, making the narratives a part of the everyday environment in an impactful and meaningful way. OCU
More about the artistWhen did you first discover your passion for drawing and what led you to pursue it?
I consider myself fortunate as my interest in the world of art ignited at a young age, guiding me in a certain direction. I found solace in drawing, turning to it not only during moments of sadness but also when I was in high spirits. I even became the go-to person for drawing assignments among my classmates in grade school (chuckles). My journey continued as I enrolled in an art high school in Sibiu, where I became enamored with street art, graffiti, and the entire realm of urban culture. Subsequently, I pursued higher education in Cluj, specializing in Advertising.
-
Wanda
More about the artistIt started with drawings, sketches and what not since I was in primary school. Naturally I went to study arts in high school and college. After that I took the advertising path that went on for ten years. It taught me one important thing: to have a concept and a structure behind every project. I took all that experience and knowledge and applied them to one of my favourite things since I was a kid: drawing on walls.
-
RECIS
More about the artistWhat were your initial thoughts and feelings when you first encountered a sizable wall, and how did you approach it in terms of its proportions?
Scaling my ideas mentally was a straightforward process for me. There were times when I faced creative blocks, moments when I would sit before the wall, closely examining its surface. Then, I would shut my eyes, attempting to form mental connections and envision an image or composition to serve as my starting point. From there, I would gradually progress towards achieving a satisfying final result. It was akin to a meditative practice, in a sense. When I had a well-defined concept, the procedure became much more straightforward. I would establish a central axis and, based on that axis, define the left and right sides and the proportional relationships, and then I'd dive into the work.
